Deidre Ann Tyrell

Hello, my name is Deidre-Ann and I’m an artist. I’m originally from Jamaica but I moved to the US to start anew. I did art in high school and college; now I aim to do art as a full-time career.

I am a Visual Artist whose disciplines include Painting, Drawing, Ceramics, Sculpting, Digital Arts, Animation, and Graphic Design. I went to the University of South Florida where I graduated with a BA in Studio Arts in 2023.

Art has always been my passion and I am so thankful to Miss Tabois for giving me a platform to share my creations. If you want to see more of my work or reach out to me personally, please visit my portfolio: Home | illustrator (deidreanntyrell.wixsite.com). In the future I hope to gain more creative freedom and artistic skills to produce art that not only resonates with me but with a set diverse audience. Thank you.

2023 Perseids Meteor Shower

This painting depicts two fundamental reggae musicians: Bob Marley(middle), and Peter Tosh (bottom right). Both musicians were Rastas.

Rastas believed that the Emperor of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie (bottom left), was their King and regarded Ethiopia has their homeland (hence the Jamaican island and flag painted within Ethiopia’s land).

The Lion of Judah(top right) is of spiritual importance to Rastas as it represents strength, endurance, and perseverance. The background Red, green and gold are the colors of the Rastafari movement and the Ethiopian flag.

Tree of Life

The willow tree and the sky bend to the movement of time. Each flower represents a different stage of human life: infancy to early adolescence, teenage to adulthood, and senior to the afterlife.

Each stage is significant in the flow of life. The 1st flower is small and pink to represent the innocence and vulnerability of being a child. The 2nd flower is bigger than the 1st and is green to signify the growth and progression that occurs during this stage of life; we develop a personality and grow into one’s ourselves. The last flower is the widest and the most vibrant flower; the bright red and orange represent the wisdom and vitality of this stage of life. We are at our most valuable mentality due to our life experiences. The stream of water symbolizes a connection to the life force; thus, remnants of the pink and red flower are seen in the water because during childhood and geriatric stage is when we are most connected to the divine.
